About Fred P. Wessells
Expertise
I can provide advice regarding most aspects of home and personal security & safety, as well as just about anything related to computer security. Lighting to locks to windows and more. I DO NOT WANT QUESTIONS ON ALARM SYSTEMS, other than common smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. This is not my area of expertise. How to keep from needing an alarm system is more in my area!

Experience
I have worked in the industry for 18 years as a security officer, feature writer and editor for a national security magazine and as a security consultant.

Publications
Security Technology & Design magazine, Access Control magazine, Locksmith Ledger magazine, several community newspapers and legal newsletters.

Security & Fire Protection Systems - Keypad mount cover removal

Expert: Fred P. Wessells - 10/24/2009

Question
Hello! I have a door entry keypad control hooked-up next to my main door entry...I simply want to remove the cover (not the back cover where the electronic parts are and which is screwed to the wall)..so that I may have more access for painting around it. I noticed that I have a small hole opening under the unit and when I insert a small flathead screwdriver, it's seems that I can push it downwards..but just a little and I don't want to add to much presure so that it breaks...this little pin seems delicate. Is that the way to proceed in order to remove it? I have a DSC Module, model PC 1500. Thanks for your advice. Daniel

Answer
All Experts is telling me I did not respond to this question, but I did. If you did not receive a reply, please let me know. Basically I gave you Web sites to find the manual. If you did not receive that, google DSC Module PC 1500 (in quotes) and it will bring up the same manual I found. That's the best I can do for you on this one. Sorry.
