Question Hi Steven - We purchased our house with a Regency 4720 security system. It was previously monitored by a company, but we reprogrammed it to call our cell phone in the event of an alarm. All was fine and good except we are getting a trouble call with the error being Line 1. We have tried everything and checked everything and can not figure it out. This system has also stopped recognizing our installer and main access codes as well so we are stuck. How can we reset the entire system as well as figure out what is the trouble call?
Answer Tammy,
Sorry for the delay, I was out for a minor operation, but all is well!!
I'm not familiar with the Regency system, but I can give a good guess as to the error message - The system does not receive a "Kiss-on" signal from the cell phone, as it would if it were dialing the receiver at a central station. The error message you are getting is most likely a "failure to communicate". Typically, unless the alarm has a "voice dialer" built into it, this will always happen. There are add-on units available which will allow a pre-recorded number to be dialed, and a recorded message played. Most also allow for pager notification as well.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your access code issue. If you have the book for the alarm, see if there is a section on "factory default reset". This will restore the panel to it's factory settings. Beware however, this will also wipe out all of the system configuration programming, and unless you know how to reprogram them, will leave you in no better shape than you are currently in.
Your safest, although probably not the least expensive, option would be to find an Alarm COmpany that installs / services this type of system, and have them fix it.
Hope this helps.
