Question I have an ademco vista 10 SE
Nightly the key pad beeps that there is a low battery. We have lived in the home for 7 1/2 years, never replaced the battery.
Where is the battery??? How do I replace it??
Answer Hello Terry, and thanks for your question.
The system battery is located in the main control box (not the keypad). The control box is generally tucked away out of sight in a closet, basement, or utility room. It'll usually be close to where the keypad is. Look for a beige box about 10 by 12 inches.
The box may be locked; sometimes the installer leaves a key on top of the cabinet. If not, it's not to hard to pop the cover off with a screwdriver.
The battery for your system is Lead-Acid (sometimes listed as SLA), 12 volt, 4 Ampere Hours (AH). You may be able to find one at a Radio Shack, but folks more often order them online. Just Google "alarm battery replacement" and you'll find several vendors. Shop around for the best price; just match the specs that I provided for you. Also, it's not important to find the same brand that you have. It's the specification that counts.
