Question Hi Dave. My zone 2 (door contact) gave me a false alarm for the second time. I have the system for almost 3 years now and this is the first time it happened. In both cases, the alarm went off after about 3 hours of being set. I checked contacts and main panel connections and all seems to be ok. It does not happen when I set the alarm to STAY mode (only when all zones are set). Not sure if it has to do with battery or something else. Any help is appreciated.
Answer Hello Jose, and thanks for your question.
The battery is supervised separately, and will show as a trouble on your keypad if it becomes weak.
I also doubt there's a connection between setting the alarm in STAY mode or AWAY mode that affects the door contact (but if it's an interior door, then I would suspect it's bypassed in STAY mode).
The best way to check for a problem like this is to set your panel to Chime Mode with the door closed. Then rattle the door, and wiggle wires and connections. When you disturb a bad connection, the chime will sound from the keypad. Hopefully, this will point you to what needs to be repaired.
If you cannot find the problem using this method, a technician should be able to put things in order for you.
