Question Hello, about 2 weeks ago my ranger american alarm panel "Danger" light was on for a few days and chirping every once in while. Then My alarm stsem went dead, no panel lighting or entrance chirping. Reading some of the questions in here, Im assuming its the big battery in the control box. Could this be it? If so, where can I get this battery and how do I set it up to start working again? Thanks!
Answer Hello Javier, and thanks for your question.
Most alarm systems will continue to run with a dead battery, as long as there is AC power provided via the plug-in transformer. So before shopping for a battery, please check that the transformer is plugged in, and is warm to the touch.
If it's cold, then check that the circuit breaker is on. If it is on, and the outlet has power (plug a lamp into it to make sure), then you need to replace the transformer. The battery in all likelihood will recharge after that.
If you need a battery, just Google "alarm battery" and you'll find several online vendors. Just match the specs from the old battery to a new one. Three things:
Type (Gel Call, Sealed Lead Acid or SLA, etc.)
Voltage
Ampere Hours or AH.
This information will be printed on the old battery.
