Question Hi dave, thanks for being available. My house alarm has been out of service (no lights on ant panel or motion sensors)for over 5 yrs. At 2 am this morning it awakens and finally got it to shut off. I dont even know the code. I might add that my dog and I were already 1/2 way out the window thinking the house was on fire! Crazy! There were no storms, power outages etc. I really need help. Me and my lil dog cant be doing that adreneline thing!! hahaha. Thanks so much julie
Answer Hello Julie, and thanks for writing.
If you're not using the system, the best course is to completely power it down.
You can do this by finding the pug-in transformer that powers the system and charges its backup battery. It's likely located near the main control panel, which is usually tucked away in a closet or basement. It may be secured in the outlet with a screw that you'll have to remove.
Once this is done, the battery will discharge and the alarm will be dead. This can take several hours, so if you can open the main box and unplug the battery, you can have instant relief.
I hope this helps, and that you and your pooch can have a restful night's sleep.
