Question HI Dave,
I have a lifesaver 1225 smoke detector hardwired with no battery backup that keeps chirping....what does that mean and how do I stop it? I have no idea how old it is, i moved into this house last year
Answer Hello Kim, and thanks for your question.
The 1225 is not listed among Kidde's smoke alarms, and I have not been able to locate and product documentation for this. Is it possible that the model number is either 1275 or 1235? (These are valid model numbers.)
In the meantime, there are a couple of things you can do. First, let's make sure that the smoke detector is actually what's chirping. Look for a programmable thermostat, alarm keypad, or plug-in carbon monoxide detector -- any of which can produce a similar low-battery warning.
If there are none, then remove the detector from its wiring harness. Once AC power has been removed, the chirping should stop... but if it continues, then there's a battery in the detector that you've not found.
I hope this helps, and if you discover that the model number is something different than 125, then please let me know and I'll find the user's manual for you.
