Question just recently the alarm gives off a low moaning sound about 4 times a day is this normal just bought this house a few months ago and alarm was here thanks
Answer Hello John, and thanks for writing.
I've never been able to locate any product information on Norton smoke alarms, so I can't say with certainty what the "low moaning" indicates. It does not, though, sound normal to me. If a detector has an audible signal, it should be attention-getting (like the low-battery chirp) and unmistakable.
Given that you don't know how old the detectors are, and that their operation is suspect, I'd recommend replacing them with an up-to-date model.
