Be careful following the provided advice.  It resulted in my settings being lost and I don't have the access code so I have no trouble lights but the system is not active and I cannot restart it.

The DSC PC-2550 uses non-volatile memory.  Removing power from the system won't affect any programmed settings.

Your specific problem is unrelated to the advice given.  I've worked with DSC systems since the days of the PC-2000.  They all use non-volatile memory.
