Security & Fire Protection Systems/Trouble Light on Ranger American System

The Trouble light on our Ranger American alarm system is showing a trouble light on zone 8.  As far as we know we don't have anything in zone 7 or 8.  Any idea on what this might be?  We have recently replaced the backup battery as we thought that was the original issue.

Hello Nicole, and thanks for your question.

Most Ranger American equipment is manufactured by a company called DSC, so I have to make an educated guess about which control panel you have.

If you used a keyboard command to display information about the system trouble by pressing * 2, then the zone 8 being lit means that your control has lost track of the time and date.

So if that's the case, try this (from the user's manual):

Setting the System Date and Time

To set the system time, enter [✱][6] followed by the Master Code. Press [1]. The keypad will now accept 10 consecutive digits:

Enter the Time in Hours and Minutes using the 24-hr format (00:00 to 23:59).
Enter the Date in Months, Days and Years (MM DD YY).

NOTE: If you have an LCD keypad, your installer may have programmed your system to display the time and date while the keypad is idle. If this is the case, you may have to press the [#] key to clear the date and time before entering an access code to arm the system, or before performing any other keypad function.

Does that help?

Best Regards,
