1 Is it possible to achieve reciprocating Motion in Electric motor i. e. Moving forward and backward in straight line apart from conventional rotary Motion of Electric motor?.
2 If yes, Do you feel there are advantages of designing electrical products which have a reciprocating Motion?.
Answer Hello Prashant. I believe what you're referring to is already a reality. A solenoid with make and break contacts on a metallic plunger would achieve the same result (forward and back motion in a linear direction). It's used in fire alarm bells.
As to your second question, the motorized bell draws significantly more current over one that employs a solenoid to actuate the striker, so there are definite advantages in that you can install more solenoid driven bells on a signal circuit.
