The model is an Ademco (Vista SE). Is it possible to utilize the alarm by using just the installer code? If that can be done can you retrieve or access the master code?
Thanks

Dave,
I bought this home about 2 years ago and the alarm system which is a ademco can not be used do to the fact the previous owners left no manuals or master codes. Is there a way to reset the alarm and eneter a new master code? By the way, i have no idea what model the ademco is.
Thank you
Rod

Hello Rod, and thanks for writing.
Without model information, there's no way to give an exact answer whether this is something that you can do yourself (but probably not).
In general, an alarm technician can fix you up. Look at the control box and see if there's a sticker with the installing alarm company's contact information on it.
Regards,
Dave
Answer Thanks for the additional information.
Here's the way it works... the installer code is programmed at the factory. When the installation is complete, the installer creates a master code for the customer. The customer can then change the master code so it's completely private.
If there's a way to return the panel to it's default configuration to restore the installer's code (and blow out all the system programming at the same time), I don't know it.
Here's a link to the user manual for your system. This should be of use.
