Question Hi Dave: First, thank you for your response, second, the problem with taking it down is that it is wired to the ceiling, I don't feel it wise to disassemble the wiring as we are not electricians, as straight forward as it appears we do not to risk this step. This is your product and it has only been a few years that this model has been active. Is a replacement in order.
I feel it is...Thanx!

-----Question-----
I tried your suggestion of disconnecting the electrical harness, removing the battery and 20 seconds test. I put everything back and it still chirps! It is right next to my bedroom and I cannot sleep. I turned off the power and it still chirps - even with the battery out. HELP!
-----Answer-----
Hello Lisa, and thanks for writing.
With the battery out and the power off.. the detector cannot chirp. Something else is.
If you have a carbon monoxide detector, that could be it.
Do this: take the detector you think is chirping down, and put it outside or in another room. If the chirping follows that detector (with battery out), it's a miracle...
I suspect you'll still have chirping near the original location, and it'll be something else.
Let me know what you find!
Best Regards,
Dave
Answer Hello again Lisa.
I am not a FireX employee, nor do I have any affiliation with them. I'm just a volunteer in this forum sharing my experience in the fire and security industry with people who need help. I've seen that some of my postings appear on the Internet at various sites; if you saw one that makes it look like I represent FireX, I'd appreciate it if you can send me the URL so that I can have that reference removed.
In my dealings with folks who have isues with various brands of smoke detectors, several have gotten replacements by writing to the manufacturer.
You didn't mention the model number of your detector, but I read a FireX warranty one one current model and it had a five year limited warranty. You can probably find your model's paperwork at a site called atlantasupply.com (they deal heavily in the FireX line).
I hope this helps, and please write again if you have additional questions.
