Question Dave:
I've been in my towhome for about 5 years and have been switching batteries of my smoke detectors each time I had a beep signaling "low battery".
Yesterday, one of the smoke detectors started to beep during the night at the pace of 1 beep/min.
I did change the battery but it did not fix the problem; then I did buy another Firex FADC smoke detector with a new battery but I still have a beep every minute as well as the red blink twice/min, signaling "low battery".
What would you suggest me to try next?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Fabien.
Answer Hello Fabien, and thanks for writing. I think you've taken prudent steps to solve the problem. I just want to verify a couple of things. But first, please follow the link below to a copy of the manual for your detector:
If I don't have the right one, you should have one in the box of the new detector you bought.
Take a look at page 7. You see, I don't see an indicator for the red light flashing twice a minute, so please verify the timing for me.
Also -- just a guess at this point -- do you have a carbon monoxide detector in the house? If so, please make sure the beeping isn't from a low battery in that device.
That's it for now; please follow up and we'll go another step if need be.
