Question HELP!After a lengthy power outage, my smoke detector began to chirp. I figured that the backup battery had died. I replaced it; the power came back, and the darn thing still chirps every 30 seconds or so. I tried your suggestion to remove the unit from the hardwiring, removed the battery and held the test button down for 20+ seconds, and the darn thing still chirped afterward. Any other possible suggestions?
Answer Hello Ricky, and thanks for your question.
If you have additional detectors, please try the same procedure with them.
Aside from that the only thing that would permit a chirp every 30-60 seconds on a regular basis is a weak battery. I know you changed it -- are you sure that one was fresh?
