I am seeing exactly the same problem. I have 10 of the Firex FADC smoke detectors in my house and they're all going off! Of course I 've replaced the batteries (first thing I did), but still going on. My house is also about 5 years old (2000). It happened a little bit this past spring 2006, but only lasted a couple of days or so. I thought it was related to the Heating/AC system filters, so I replaced both the upstairs & downstairs filters at that time. It recently starting as I began to not need the AC on continuously (due to summer). I think its something related to temperature affecting the irratiated detecting device. Need some kind of other suggestions!
Thanks,
Dave P.

I am experiencing the same phenomenom. All my Alarms are beeping at various times...My house is also 5 years old, the same age as above. No one knows how to fix it or what is causing the problem.

Our Firex Smoke Alarms are also about 5 years old. Changing the battery doesn't help. If we try to plug them into the electrical, they beep also. So far, 6 of ours have had issues. I think I'm going to a different brand as each one fails.

I just fixed this issue after calling FireX. Take the unit off the ceiling, remove the battery and press the test button for 5 seconds. The unit should chirp once. Replace the battery, close the unit, and press the test button for a full ten seconds (the alarm will sound). Wait a full minute, the unit should stop chirping. Replace on ceiling.

tk saves the day. These darn things start chirping with batteries that are perfectly good. tk's fix is probably a sys reboot that isn't listed in the manual. His method works like a charm
Thanks TK!!!

TKOs' procedure worked for me too. I had two side by side bedroom and hallway alarms beeping. They wanted to reacted off of each others sounds for reboot but they worked. If you have to replace new batteries make sure you use what's in the manual Energizer batteries didn't work.

TK is right on with the solution. I've spoken to firex but they really have been of no help (imagine that). This has been frustrating at 3:00 am much less 8:00pm Thanks TK...
