Security & Fire Protection Systems - smoke alarm Nortron Model #AC12W

Expert: Dave Neuweiler - 11/28/2006

Question
I'm wondering if you can get me in the right direction as to how to get my hands on a copy of an owner's manual for our Nortron Model #AC12W smoke alarms.  I can't seem to find anything on the net regarding this model. We did not inherit them with the house we bought 2 years ago and we have a chirping problem we can't seem to fix. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Heidi, and thanks for writing.

I too have been unable to find any information on Nortron beyond that it looks like a Canadian company.

If you did not inherit them, did you buy them? If so, I'd be interested in learning where -- as this could help focus the search.

In the absence of finding them, chirping about once a minute is indicative of batteries that need to replaced with fresh ones. If you've already gone that route and it didn't help -- punt! I'd suggest replacing them with a more common brand.

I hope this helps!

Dave
