Question Hi Dave-
Besides good wiring practices are there electrical codes that must be followed when running wires in unfinished walls for window contact wires running back to a DSC Power 832? I'm using Coleman cable, 22 gage, 4- conductor, UL CM/CL3 jacketed cable.
Thanks!
Tom
Answer Hello Tom, and thanks for writing.
I know of no code requirements specifically for the application you describe. That said, I'd mention that many of the "good wiring practices" that you follow are probably a reflection of parts of the National Electrical Code, UL 681, and the "school of hard knocks," where we learn from our own mistakes.
If you have a specific concern about possible code requirements, I'd suggest calling the building inspector (or fire marshal, if you're doing fire alarm) of your municipality, and asking. I've always found these folks to be appreciative and helpful when you take the time to ask, and there may be a local code requirement that they can point you to.
