AboutTom Alonzo Expertise I have been growing plants from seeds for at least 20 years. I have grown literally hundreds of different kinds of vegetables, trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, tropicals, some cacti, water plants, iris, rose, lilies, cannas, etc. I enjoy starting from seed.
Experience I've been growing my own seeds for 20 years with indoor propagation equipment I built myself. I am also an Allexperts volunteer on the perennial forum. I have completed the Master Gardener course through the Kansas State University Extension. I have experience with a wide variety of seeds and I have also read through Norm Deno's books on seed germination.
Question I have been given a copper beech in a bonsai situation. Apparently it is about 25 years old, and is looks in pain to me. I would like to liberate it. If I take it out of the pot and plant it in my garden with lots of compost and love, will it begin to grow properly? My husband says there's no chance of that. Is there anything I can do to give it another chance at life? (I realise some people like bonsai, but I find it rather disturbing.) Many thanks. Julie
Answer Hi Julie,
Thanx for your question. I am not an expert at Bonsai and I don't want to steer you wrong. We have an expert on Allexperts to whom I am referring you.
Go to Home/Garden then click on Garden and then Click on Bonsai. The Bonsai Outlet should be able to answer your question expertly. I hope this helps.
Tom
