About Ariela
Expertise
I own all the DVDs, and have watched all of the special features and commentaries on all the episodes, most of them several times. I have whole sections of dialouge memorized as well as knowing a lot of little details. I'm good at placing a random quote, character, or scene, into its correct episode and season. I can also fill you in on all details of any minor character that ever appeared on the show or any answer any minor triva-type questions. However, I don't know much about the actor's real lives, or products seen on the show.

Seinfeld - George's Warning

Expert: Ariela - 6/21/2005

Question
George and Jerry are in a girl's apartment and they are attempting to switch an answering machine tape.  George calls out something to warn Jerry because he cannot whistle.  What is the phrase he says.  I believe this happened in season two.  Thanks!

Answer
Dear Duane,

Hi.  This was indeed an episode from season two, "The Phone Message."  The first suggestion is "tippy toe," which Jerry doesn't like.  They then decide on singing "Lemon Tree."  However, when the time rolls around George gets nervous and calls out, "tippy toe . . . lemon tree."  So, both ended up being the cue.  I hope this answers your question, but feel free to write again for a follow-up or if you have another question. :) [Just in case you're interested, I put the transcript of this little dialouge below.]

Best wishes,
yada yada yada,
Ariela Jaglom

JERRY: I got one problem: You're going to keep her busy in the other room. Now, what if she somehow gets away from you, and is coming in? You have to signal me that she's coming.

GEORGE: A signal? Okay, okay. The signal is.. I'll call out.. "tippy toe".

JERRY: "Tippy toe"? ..I don't think so.

GEORGE: You don't like "tippy toe"?

JERRY: .. No "tippy toe".

GEORGE: Alright. Okay, I got it.. I'll sing.

JERRY: What song?

GEORGE: Umm.. (Not singing) "How do you solve a problem like Maria?"

JERRY: What is that?

GEORGE: Oh, it's a lovely song. (Singing) "How do you solve a problem like Maria?.."

JERRY: (Unimpressed) You got anything else?

GEORGE: You pick it.

JERRY: "Lemon Tree."

GEORGE: Peter, Paul and Mary?

JERRY: No, Trini Lopez.

JERRY AND GEORGE: (Singing) "Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet.."
