About Sal
Expertise I am privileged to be able to offer an alternative insight into the complicated world of Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA) theology. I will rely heavily on the Bible, but will also consider history and use logic in exposing deficiencies in SDA teachings. I would ask anyone who is considering becoming a SDA or if you are already in the SDA church, but are searching for the truth, to please allow me to offer a different explanation for the claims of the SDA. Remember : "The truth will set you free" (John 8:32). I can answer your questions pertaining to the beliefs and history of the SDA. I am not able to answer questions concerning spirituality or church discipline.
Experience I have extensively studied the theology of the Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA) for a number of years. I have many books and tape sets produced by experts in this field of study. I have debated current members of the SDA church. I have a great desire to help these people see the truth.

Question Dear Sal:
Thank you so much for your previous answer. Just as you said my SDA friend could not find a verse in the NT to support sabbath keeping for Christians. I spoke calmly as you suggested. I steered away from arguments. All he could do is say that Paul kept the sabbath. What should I say to that?
Thanks again,
Kerrie
Answer Dear Kerrie:
Congratulations on remaining calm and friendly. Your good attitude may help your friend to see that the SDA Church is wrong on this issue. You should first explain to your friend that you do not see anything wrong with Paul or any Christian keeping the Sabbath so long as it is not made a salvation issue. Christians are free to keep the Sabbath as an option if they wish. “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5).
You might also note that when Paul went to the synagogue the Holy Spirit always emphasizes that Paul went there to preach Christ not to keep an Old Covenant obligation. “When they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. ‘This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ,’ he said” (Acts 17:1-3). Or simply, “When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper” (Acts 13:5). Paul himself declared that he was not under any Old Covenant obligations. “To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law” (1 Corinthians 9:20). “I myself am not under the law” is a very strong statement. Paul was not under any Old Covenant law including Sabbath observance. However, in order to save his fellow Jews he acted as “those under the law…so as to win those under the law.” So present this to your friend in a loving Christian manner. In this way you will be helping to open his eyes and remain his friend. Also remember before you speak with your friend to pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you when you do speak with your friend.
God Bless You,
Sal
