About Anthony
Expertise
Can one know God and not keep His commandments? Let John answer (1Jn2:4). He that says, I know Him and keeps not His commandments (including the 4th) is a liar and the truth is not in him. Since Seventh-Day Adventists derive their teachings from the Holy Bible, I will answer questions on any Biblically related subject or topic and questions on distinct Adventist practice and doctrine. Remember Paul`s words that state in the last days there will be deceivers seeking to lead astray many, yet the sincere believer can take comfort in the Lord`s promise that anyone desiring to know His truth will know it. May the Lord bless you as you seek Him.

Experience
I graduated from an Adventist University with a major in Behavioral Science and a minor in religion including an intermediate study of the Greek written language. I earned a master in religion from Liberty University a Baptist seminary. I have been a student of the Bible and of Biblical history for over 30 years.

Seventh-Day Adventists - Organized sports program for 7th day Adventist

Expert: Anthony - 11/3/2009

Question
My friend has an 8yr old that he would like to get involved in sports, but since he's 7th day Adventist he hasn't been able to find any programs that work with their beliefs for upholding the Sabbath. Are there any programs for the 7th day Adventists or does anyone have any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Sandy, thanks for your interest in SDA activities.  Each local church has some sort of sport activities but this depends on the size of the church membership.  My church which is quite small only has limited sports activities and that is because there are so few children to participate so you could check with the local SDA church.  You can also write the General Conference for information at: General Conference of SDA, 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, Md.  20904.  You can probably get the phone number with  directory assistance.  Something else to try is to go on the internet to:  www.adventistcolleges.org/cmspages.asp?pageid=8   This takes you to SDA Sports and Activities.  As you go to the bottom of the article you come to “Request more information” about sports programs that is underlined.  Click on this and you supply some information and someone gets back to you with answers to your questions.  I know it mentions only colleges but they will also answer questions on middle and lower schools.  Exercise and sports participation is part of keeping a healthy being so the Lord will give you success in your search.  Thanks for sharing your interests, anthony
