Seventh-Day Adventists - marriage in the new earth.

Expert: Matt - 6/23/2009

Question
hello matt, am convinced that their shall be no marriages in the new heaven, however my concern is in the new earth, will there be sex, marriages ,& giving birth in the new earth?

Answer
Hi Robinah,

The answer to your question is in Mark 12:25 which states:

"25For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor  are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven."

We will be like the angels...who are all a part of the "royal family". We will all be together as one family without the need of such things as sex and marriage.

Here is also a quote from Ellen White:

There are men today who express their belief that there will be marriages and births in the new earth, but those who believe the Scriptures cannot accept such doctrines. The doctrine that children will be born in the new earth is not a part of the "sure word of prophecy." The words of Christ are too plain to be misunderstood. They should forever settle the question of marriages and births in the new earth. Neither those who shall be raised from the dead, nor those who shall be translated without seeing death, will marry or be given in marriage. They will be as the angels of God, members of the royal family. {Maranatha Ch369.1}

Thanks for your question!

May God be with you as you continue to search His Word!
