Seventh-Day Adventists/origin of the seed of Sin

Adam came into this world perfect and chose to sin.  Christ is referred to as the 2nd Adam and in his humanity was capable of sin but overcame.  Failure to understand that Christ is both Man and God will lead you to all types of misunderstandings.  The Bible teaches that Christ was tempted above all men in his humanity.  His deity could on be tempted.  If it wasn't tempting, then He wasn't tempted. Our salvation is made complete in Christ succeeding where Adam failed.  Read about the Hypostatic Union.  "The Author of sin" refers to the first one of God's creatures to rebel.  "Free will" is a divine institution given by God to His creatures so true love can be experienced.
