If you believe the Word of God and study it then you have all you need to try the spirits to see what is true and what is not.  One thing to remember is that the original manuscripts were the only thing that was transpired everything else is a copy. So with that in mind; if you study the original language you will find that it's so exact(speaking of Greek) that things like this will take care of themselves. If your studying under a pastor that doesn't know the original language then be ready for all types of interpretation.  Just as computer science professional studies algorithms and math a pastor teacher should know the original language.
