Seventh-Day Adventists/Promises of God

What are the promises of God?

Thank you!

If you read your Bible you won't help but come across a promise every other chapter.  There are over 3,000 of them throughout Old and New Testament.  The reason people don't realize these promises is because each one is conditional.  What is conditional?  Conditional is, "if you do this than I will do that."  Example:  "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins", "if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people", "if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life", etc. Most so called Christians today want to claim the promises of God without the effort they must make on their part.  Claiming the promises of God without fulfilling the conditions is called presumption.  Presumption is the great counterfeit of faith.  You can see presumption even on this site under SDA.  You have the Sal's and the Tom's and others who worm their way in to offer an "alternative" to God's way.  Satan had an alternative which he pitched to Eve and look what happened.  The spirit of Satan still exists in all those who claim to have a better way; who claim that you can have the blessings of God without obeying His commandments; who say that the commandments of God have been nailed to the cross; who say that the 7th day Sabbath is no longer in force. Beware of these teachings Catalina because they are not from God.  The devil has his agents everywhere and they masquerade as kind loving Christians but their heart is far from God.  The only safety is a "thus sayeth the Lord." Follow the Lord's advice in the first few verses of John 15 about the branch abiding in the Vine because without Christ we can do nothing.  We will surely fall for the deceptions of evil men in sheep's clothing.  May the Lord give you discernment and understanding as you seek Him.

Can one know God and not keep His commandments? Let John answer (1Jn2:4). He that says, I know Him and keeps not His commandments (including the 4th) is a liar and the truth is not in him. Since Seventh-Day Adventists derive their teachings from the Holy Bible, I will answer questions on any Biblically related subject or topic and questions on distinct Adventist practice and doctrine. Remember Paul`s words that state in the last days there will be deceivers seeking to lead astray many, yet the sincere believer can take comfort in the Lord`s promise that anyone desiring to know His truth will know it. May the Lord bless you as you seek Him.
