Sewing - altering, taking out a dress

Question
hi there :)
i have a dress that i bought that i absolutely love! but there's a problem, it's a few sizes too small. the bottom/skirt part fits perfectly. i'm going to buy the fabric to make the top bigger, but someone told me with how much i need to do would be impossible. it doesnt zip up past the skirt that much. so i think you can get the idea, that it's a lot that would need to be put on. do you think it would be impossible if it's over 6 inches that i need?

i hope all that makes sense =/

Answer
HI Paige,
I do not think anything is really impossible, maybe impracticable.

you will need to add to the underarms and center back.  If there are any seams in the front you could use them, but most dresses do not have front seams.

So, most will be the underarms and the back by the zipper.
