Sewing - altering store bought pants

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 10/15/2008

Question
I have recently lost some weight by walking 3-5 miles 4xweek - my legs have become quite firm and my ready to wear pants are way too baggy!! in the legs & Butt area - unfortunately my waist size has not shrunk as quickly - can I just take the side seams in?  The pants I am talking about do not have any pockets
Thanks for your help

Answer
HI Liz
Taking in the side seam will help eliminate bagginess in the legs.

To make the seat fit better, I suggest that you use the crotch seams.
Put the pants on inside out and have someone pin the seam to remove the bagginess from the seat area.
