Sewing - Quantum XL-1 quilting guide

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 12/11/2008

Question
QUESTION: My machine came with an instruction manual and accessories.  One of the attachments was a quilting guide.  The problem is that I can not find how to attach the guide in order to sew with it.  There are NO instructions in the manual.  The manual only indentifies the part.  Am I missing a page?  I can't get into a manual to check for missing info.  Everyone wants to charge me for a download or a new manual.

ANSWER: HI Marthanna,
Since I do not know the brand of machine, can you describe the quilting guide?

does it look like the letter L in shape.  If so it usually slips into the presser foot and you adjust the distance between quilting rows.

When I quilt, I usually use the open toe foot so I can see where I am quilting, especially if following the quilt pattern.

hope this helps

QUESTION: The brand is Singer Quantum XL-1.  The guide looks like an L with a raised end.  I tried slipping it into the presser foot but there is not a hole in the main leg.  The other feet with the machine just snap onto the main leg.  Am I missing something?

Answer
Good Morning,
Usually the guide slips into a space on the foot.  Look at the back of the foot. You should see a space for the guide to slip into.  If not, then go back to the store and ask them for the right foot for the guide to slip into.
