Sewing - velcro sewing

Question
Hi
I have never sewed velcro, and was wondering, rather than go around the velcro, can I use a decorative button, and just sew the button on the velcro..........these would go on straps, so the button would go on the outside, and I would sew the velcro around the edges on the hidden ones. I just want to hide the sewing aruond the velcro on the top of the project. does this make sense?

Answer
HI Ruth,
how ever you decide to attach the velcro, you need to be sure that it is attached well, so that it stays put when using it.  Sometimes with small pieces of velcro, I will stitch it on with an 'X', that way all 4 corners are secure.

Can you use invisible thread to stitch it?  That way the stitching won't show.

Happy Holidays
