Sewing - Altering the back crotch of womens slacks

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 2/15/2008

Question
Vinette,
I found this sight through a search engine and I have read through the posts before posting to you.  I am now a size 16/18 in ready to wear slacks and am having trouble figuring out just how to remove excess fabric from the back of the crotch.
I have attached a sketch of how the slacks fit and where I am having the problem

Answer
HI Jean,
While adjusting the amount you are taking from the back of the crotch, you may need to re adjust the curve, so that it is not so straight after removing fabric,

try basting the change before making it permanent.  This way; you will be able to make adjustments until it fits the way you want.
