Sewing - altered for bust, now neck / shoulders wrong

Question QUESTION: Vinette,
I am making Butterick 4336. Based on the body measurements listed, I figured I needed to increase the pattern two sizes up for the bust and three sizes for the waist. Silly me, though, I didn't think about the neck and shoulders. The dress is made up beautifully so far, just missing the sleeves. I found that by taking up the shoulders, I got the dress to fit much better at bust, waist, and hips. Then I adjusted the facings and sewed them in, and now I see that the neckline gaps a bit in front and back. Is there anything I can do at this point?

ANSWER: Hi Marcy
It may be possible to take up the excess in the front by adjusting the shoulder seam at the neck line.
That is the only thing I can think of other than adding darts at the neckline and I do not think that is a good solution.

QUESTION: Yes, I tried darts at the neckline and it didn't work very well -- I may not have made them long enough, since I got bunches / bubbles at the ends, and of course it doesn't "go" with the princess seaming.
To adjust the shoulder seam -- do you mean the angle -- i.e. use the same point at the outside (arm end) of the seam, but take up more of the front at the inside (neck edge) of the seam?
Thanks!
Answer HI Marcy,
This is exactly what I was talking about. Usually pulling up the shoulder at the neck edge will take out some of the gap of the neckline.
