Sewing - change high waste jeans to low rise

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 2/27/2008

Question
How do I take regular ladies jeans that are too tight in the (high) waste and make them low rise jeans?  Do I have to replace the zipper and create a new top band and button?

Answer
HI Jill
you will need to add to the band and maybe you can reuse the button.

As to the zipper, you may be able to cut the top off.

you will need to cut the pants down the same amount all the way around.  This may have some effect on the front pockets.
