Question
QUESTION:  Can you tell me where the measuring tape goes to measure a mans waist?
My wife says it goes around the belly just under the navel, for me 48".
I say it goes lower, where the belt loop of my pants goes, which is 38".
Like a lot of men I have a large belly but a smaller waist.
This argument is over the fact that guys with a waist over 40" are more prone to heart attacks, etc.
Thanks!

ANSWER: HI Bud
Sorry, but I have to agree with your wife, the waist measurement is at the belly button.

QUESTION: OK
But why do I fit 38" jeans when my waist around the belly button is 48"?

Answer
HI Bud,
From what I have seen men do is to wear the pants lower than the waist, below the big belly, to fit into smaller sizes.  I would guess that were you to wear the pants at your natural waist, you would have to get a larger size than the 38"

HOpe this is helpful.
