Sewing - Photo quilt

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 3/24/2008

Question
I recently made a photo quilt.  I mistakenly used a laser printer rather than an
ink jet printer to print the photos.  The ink from the laser jet printer runs
together when it is washed. Is there a product I can use to seal the photos to
prevent them from washing away when I clean them?

Answer
HI Ellen,
The only product I know of that may work is below.

With Bubble Jet Set, you can use your ink jet or bubble jet printer to print to 100 % cotton or silk fabric using the freezer paper method. First you soak your fabric for 5 minutes in Bubble Jet Set. Then using the freezer paper method print your designs. After dry, wash gently using Bubble Jet Set Rinse.  Colors remained vibrant, clear and permanent using my Epson Stylus 740 Color PC printer.

You can ask at stores such as Michales, hobby lobby.  They may have additional suggestions.

Another suggestion that I found is heat setting the colors with the iron.

hope some of this helps
