Sewing - shortening pants between waist and crotch

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 3/18/2008

Question
Is there a way to shorten pants and slacks between waist and crotch?

Answer
HI Saadia,
Is the problem that the crotch is too long? if this is the problem, then by using the inseam you can shorten the crotch area.

turn the pants inside out, take up some of the fabric at the center inseam.  taper to the thigh area.   baste this change. try the pants on, if ok then stitch the new seam.  If not make adjustment and retry them.
