Sewing - Thick Fabric

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 4/1/2008

Question
Help! I'm a newbie. How do I adjust the machine so the thick fabric moves forward? Sears Kenmore basic machine. Pattern knob, Length Knob and Thread Tension dial(at 3). What do I adjust? I'm doing a thick dart and the fabric won't pass.

Answer
HI Janine
You may have to help the fabric move by lightly pulling it thru.

If you have a presser foot pressure adjustment, you can try loosing it a bit so there won't be a lot of pressure on the material.

Also check to make sure the feed dogs are in the UP position.
