Sewing - How to do a rolled hem

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 4/24/2008

Question
Hello. Would you know how to do a rolled hem around a corner, but keeping the corners as square as possible. I need to replicate the following photo:

Answer
HI Priscilla
I looked at the photo.  It does not look like a typical rolled hem.

It looks like one done with a zig-zag stitch.

You will need to practice a bit first.

You will need to clip the valley's so it will look good.

take the fabric, fold a small amount over for the hem.  Using a small, close zig-zag to sew over the folded fabric, if you do this right, you can keep sewing and the fabric will fold over by it self as you stitch over it.

when getting to the points, go off the edge of the fabric and re-start the hem again, making a nice point.
