Sewing - Do not know how to sew! Hemming a dress w/out sewing!

Question
Hi, i have a dress that i need shortened, however, i do not know how to sew and don't have time to take it to get altered.  Anyways, it has a lining that is a straight hem and would be easy to do, however the top layer is pleated from the neck down and looks as if it would have to b unpleated, hemmed then all the pleats would have to be put back together.  Is there any way i can temporarily shorten the dress with something from a sewing store or elsewhere until i can get it done professionally?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
thanks, Ashley

Answer
HI Ashley
The only thing I can think of is some hem tape.  Heat and bond or Stitch witchery.  You iron the tape to the inside of the edge of the hem, remove the backing paper and press the hem to  the inside of the skirt where you want it.

hope this helps
