Sewing - thread size

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 8/13/2008

Question
I used to buy T26 upholstery thread locally but now they only sell "Heavy Duty" thread that Is poly instead of nylon. It knots and twists and is quite awful to use for lacing braided rugs. I have found lots of places on the net that sell upholstery thread but none of them are T26, are there any other numbers that would be close to T26? I could use thread somewhat heavier but I just can't figure out from the descriptions if what they are selling is any thing I can use. I'd be very grateful for any help you can give me. Bj Riley

Answer
HI BJ
I found C&C upholstery thread at crafts for less

http://www.createforless.com/search/searchResults.asp?SearchAction=Restart&Searc...

Here is another reference. you have to scroll down a bit but there is a chart giving info on thread sizes and how they may be labeled

http://www.ylicorp.com/pdf/tot-brochure.pdf

I do not know if any of this is helpful, but maybe.
