Question
I am making bean bags,on a few of them the material is giving out by the seam. What am I doing wrong? I am machine sewing, using duck canvas and heavy duty thread.

Answer
Dear Donna,
Are you overcasting or zigzagging the seam edges?  Finishing the seam edges will stop any fabric fraying.  Also, are you using a short stitch length?  You need to be doing about 20 stitches per inch for a good, tight seam.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Good luck and happy sewing.

Sharon
