Question
I need to know how to let out a pair of suit pants waistband(size 18 child)

Answer
Dear Paula,
I am assuming this is a size 18 boys waistband.  There should be a seam in the waistband in the back.  Take the waistband loose where it has been sewn down to the pants and fold it up.  Give yourself enough room to work by taking out the stitching for several inches on either side of the back waistband.  Restitch the seam from the seamline however much you need to let out the waistband, tapering the seam into the seat seam.  Take out the original stitching and press the seam open.  Fold the waistband back down, press and stitch into place.

Good luck with your alteration.
