Question
Hi,

I'm on a big budget pinch and I have a project that I would like to do in the cheapest method imaginable.  I want to make 4 sitting pillows that will be used on the floor.  I have a spare room that I'm decorating that has no sitting furniture in it.  Ideally, I would like to make some type of zafu-like pillows to keep the strain off of our knees since we will be in the floor.  I have all the fabric I need and I can handle the actual process for making these pillows but what I can't handle is the high cost of filling for the pillows.  Would you know of an alternative method for creating stuffing?  I've thought about cutting up old sweaters, old shirts, etc.  What else could I use as filling?  I really can't buy anything at this time so any creative way to fill the pillows with stuff around the house would be wonderful!

Thank you for your time!

Christy

Answer
Christy,

You could stuff your pillows with almost any thing at this point.  But think about comfort, if any friends have some polyester bed pillows, or old decorator pillows you could remove the fill and use it.  Stuffing them with fabric will not give you any loft just a hard cushion.  With no budget do the best you can and you can always upgrade them at a later date.
