Sewing - sewing a patch on a racing suit

Expert: Sharon Vogel - 6/18/2009

Question
I am using my machine to sew a simple circular patch on my son's racing suit instead of sewing it on by hand this time.  What stitch is recommended when sewing on patches?  Should I use a zig-zag?

Answer
Dear Rebecca,
If the patch has the satin stitched edge, I would match the thread and sew it on using a zigzag stitch.  Also try to match the width of the satin stitching on the edge for a really neat edge.

Good luck and happy sewing.

Sharon

p.s.  I was assuming this was a decorative patch and not a patch for a repair.  Let me know if you need further assistance.

S.
