Sewing - Bobbin eating thread!!

Expert: Sharon Vogel - 9/25/2009

Question
Help! I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my Simplicity sewing machine because it always eats thread! The bobbin every single time twines it up to almost a full 2 inches and it bets stitched into my seams. I've tried cleaning, making sure the tension is correct, rethreading, changing needles, buying very expensive quality threads all to no avail.
Does it truly hate me? What else can be done? Does it need to go to SM heaven?

Answer
Dear Susan,
Lol!  Before we send  it on to its "just reward" (hehe), you could try taking it to the repair shop.  Then if the repairman pronounces it dead, you can go shopping for a new one!  Something is out of whack with the bobbin tension setting, and I really can't tell you anything else to try...you've done it all.  Some bobbin tensions are preset at the factory and there is nothing we can do with it at home (not a good thing, in my opinion.)

Good luck with your machine.  I hope the repair shop can help you.

Sharon
