Question QUESTION: I have lost weight. Many of my pants sag in the crotch area. Also, I am short waisted thus making the problem worse. How can I take out the bagginess in the crotch area AND lower the waistline (I turn them under once and they fit just fine) without taking off the waistband? Can the crotch area be adjusted thus bringing the waistband "down" (lowering) taking out bagginess but not tightening up the thigh area? Hope this is not too confusing. Thanks so much for being there to help
ANSWER: HI Renae,
What you will need to do is to use the in seams.
put the pants inside out, and mark how much you want to take out.
you will taper from the top of the seams, where they cross with the center seams down the inseam for a nice line.
This may also lower the waist band.

QUESTION: Would you please mind taking the time to recommend a great book on alterations? I have sewn many garments from patterns; now freinds/family ask for alterations and I'm thinking a book would sometimes make it more simple for me. A highly illustrated book would be a plus...thanks again for your time. REnae
Answer HI Renae
I suggest going to your local library and checking out the books on alterations they may have. They can also order books from other librarys for you to check out.
Once you find a book on alterations you like, you can then go to the store or online to purchase it.
