Sexual Harassment/When a teacher likes his student?

Dear Sir, what to do when a teacher likes his student?

A friend of mine, a married female student, thinks that her professor likes her. It is also confirmed by her other fellow students. The professor does not do anything bad yet. However, it feels awkward.

What should be done in this case?
Thank you.

Hi Kevin,

It really depends on the college/university policy on fraternization.  Some schools allow this but many do not and it depends on the enforcement of that policy as well.  You mention that the professor "likes" his student.  Is the professor showing any favoritism or flirting inappropriately?  If this is not occurring as you have stated it has not, then nothing can be done since it is just perception at this point.  I would take a look at the school's fraternization policy and see what is there for you to report if this becomes a problem in the future. Otherwise, it may be just perception and not reality.
