AboutAlexander Hodgkiss Expertise I can answer questions on what shareware and freeware to use for projects of any kind, and where you can find it. I've worked with several types of Shareware/Freeware software including SplashUp, Zoho, Google, Audacity, Pligg, and many others on various projects and environments both web-based and on the desktop. So if you need help with working in one of these environments I am willing to give a hand. Also, I've worked in developing some freeware software in Flash and ActionScript in case there is a need.
Experience I've worked on several projects where I used Shareware/Freeware software as my source for programming, graphics, 3D, video/audio engineering, and for web-based development as well.

Question Hi Alexander,
I recently downloaded VLC, a media player. My purpose is to play telephone videos [AVI], and Kodak movies [MOV] from my card reader. My operating system is XP Pro, and I have the latest version of Media Player, but it does not play AVI or MOV files.
The VLC program works very well with these files except that I can not get audio, only video. Can you suggest any answers or a free media player which plays AVI and MOV files? Thank you and Regards, Ken.
Answer Howdie Ken,
Hands down, I would recommend Media Player Classic and WinAmp. Media Player Classic looks much like the old Windows Media Player. WinAmp has several features in its tool-set, and would require some additional codecs to be downloaded. You would probably want to just get Media Player Classic. Just do a simple Google search and you should be able to reach a download for it.
