Shareware/Freeware/file sharing

Question
Hi. Regarding file sharing sites like Kazaa, Napster, Bearshare, my question is: how does the song originally get on the site? Does someone go to a music store and buy a cd and upload it onto the site? If that's the way it gets there, why would someone do that?

Answer
Usually each file sharing program will have a sharing option to share what every they want. Then they will rip their CD, or transfer all the MP3 songs they have in the sharing folder. They do that so that other people will share their music with them.
