Question Please help! I visited Kazaa for the first time in ages yesterday, and now I have nothing but headaches. (At least I think that's where it came from, I read somewhere that visiting Kazaa can put AdWare and Spyware on your computer). All of this adware garbage is now all over my computer and I HATE it! Disgusting! I have a "searchBar" across the bottom of my screen that I CANNOT get rid of, I've done everything to try to remove it. It won't go away! I used 2004 Norton Antivirus to identify these files and tried to delete, but it would not delete all of these adware files-- something like 14 out of 22--I don't understand why. I went to Tucows to try to find some free software to remove this junk, and downloaded one, but all it does is identify the files; you have to then buy the software for $29.95 to remove it. It found 46 threats! Is there any way to get rid of this and not have to spend $30 or more? I am so upset, my computer is not running right because of this crap. I have the BellSouth PopUp Ad Remover program as well, but it is doing nothing to stop these latest pop ups. I would appreciate any help or advice you can give. If I have to buy something, I guess I will, because I can't stand this, there are 2 or more popup ads every time I click on something, and I had none of this before yesterday. Do you know if Kazaa just allows all this junk on their site, or are they behind loading it all on everyone's computer that visits Kazaa? Sorry to jump around so much, but I'm nearly at my wit's end! Thank you!
Andrea
Answer Hi Andrea,
Thanks for writing in. SO SORRY you are having so many problems. YES, Kazaa DOES do these things AND can be the culprit of your headaches.
There are 2 programs I would suggest running. Both are FREE.
The first one is AdAware, available from:
www.lavasoftusa.com
Make sure to download the free version. After installing it, UPDATE it, to make sure you have the most current files. Then run it.
Next, download Spybot, available from:
www.safer-networking.org
Same deal---after installing it, UPDATE it, then run it. These are 2 of the best programs out there, and they should fix your problems.
